Having Trouble Selling Your House?

Vanessa Washington

How long has your house been on the market? If it's longer than you expected, you are more than likely frustrated. You might also be confused, as you realize you're trying to sell a house that has a great floor plan and what you consider excellent landscaping. Yet, people are coming and nobody is buying. Have you considered having a professional stage your home? From home staging the inside to adding interest to the landscaping, here are ideas that might help you to finally sell your house.

Staging The Inside Of Your Home - Perhaps your realtor suggested staging your house from the very beginning, but you didn't want the extra expense. The realtor will be happy to contact a person who has an eye for what buyers are looking for. The stager might have also received training to possess this skill. Either way, don't be offended by things that the stager suggests. For example, your pride and joy might be all of the family photographs you have on your family room wall. However, when a buyer comes to look at your house, you want the buyer to envision his or her family living in your house. You also might have too much stuff in your house, making rooms appear smaller. The stager might ask you to store the extra household items or he or she might have other ideas on where to store it. Don't be surprised if the stager brings items into your house, too. For example, if a room is too bare, the stager might bring in a temporary set of furniture that looks just right in that particular room.

Staging The Outside Of Your Home - If you didn't do very much landscaping while you were living in your present house, the back yard and the front yard might lack interest. The stager might recommend that you add pots of different sizes and shapes that are full of seasonal plants to the landscaping. If your patio is totally bare, even a couple of rocking chairs and a table placed between them will probably add interest to the patio. On the other hand, the patio might be too crowded with things like furniture, plants and hanging birdhouses. If that's the case, the stager might suggest moving at least some of those objects. Trust the stager. He or she more than likely has the experience to know exactly what needs to be done to your house to sell it.
